Important information before booking
Hideaway is a genuine wilderness cabin, which means that you are entirely on your own! There are no neighbours within a radius of 10 kilometres. Occasionally, something may not work quite as it should, so a few basic practical skills would be a real advantage.
But do not worry: most of the time, everything runs like clockwork. We visit the cabin several times a year and make sure that everything is in order. However, we cannot give you a one-hundred-percent guarantee.
For us, it can sometimes be quite nerve-racking to have to explain every step over the phone. That is why we have introduced the following rules:
- Before renting the cabin to you, we would like to get to know you over the phone. This allows both sides to find out whether our cabin is right for you. As mentioned, Hideaway is completely secluded beside a lake, and mobile phone reception is often quite poor, so organising help in an emergency is not always easy.
- In winter, we only rent to guests who have stayed at our cabin before. The road to the cabin is not cleared in winter. Our friend Göran Solen can clear it with his snow-clearing vehicle on request, but this involves an additional charge.
- Once the booking is complete, you will receive all essential information and instructions by email. Please read them carefully, as this will save both you and us a great deal of trouble.
Despite, or perhaps precisely because of, these “adverse” conditions, we consistently receive enthusiastic feedback and are convinced that we have created an oasis of calm in the seclusion of Sweden. This may be why many guests return time and again over the years.
As we generally cannot be there after your stay, we rely on you to leave the cabin clean and tidy; the next guests will thank you. We generally rent by the week, from Saturday to Saturday. Exceptions may be possible by prior arrangement.
